The Life Superbiodiesel project showcased groundbreaking research in sustainable biofuels at the 5th Ibero-American Congress on Biorefineries, held in Jaén from 2 to 4 October 2024. The congress brought together scientists, industry professionals, and stakeholders from the Ibero-American region to explore cutting-edge developments in biorefineries and sustainable solutions.
The Institute of Chemical Technology (UPV-CSIC) and INESCOP presented a poster titled “Advanced Biodiesel Using Supercritical Technologies and Biostimulants Derived from Animal Waste”. The research demonstrated the innovative production of biodiesel and biostimulants from animal waste at a pilot plant scale, utilizing supercritical catalytic technology.
Key achievements of the project include:
- Developing biodiesel production using advanced supercritical technologies
- Creating biostimulants that comply with the UNE-EN 16086 standard
- Demonstrating biostimulants’ effectiveness in increasing plant growth rates by 35-40% at low concentrations
